The loft at Grizzles Inc. is 28 feet long X 8 feet wide, divided into 3 sections. The stock loft is 8 feet wide, with 16 nestboxes and a large aviary. The flyer section is 14 feet wide, with 28 nestboxes. The young bird section is equipped with 72 (12" X 12" X 6") box perches, but there are never that many birds in there. The exterior is white vinyl siding, with large openings in the front to allow for air flow. Young & old birds share an 8 foot X 4 foot landing board.

Nest boxes: 24"W x 24"D x 16"H

Drop front: (9"W x 10"H) pivots with dowels and makes it easy to control the birds. Large enough to hold both birds of the pair.

In winter, the nest front is positioned 6" from the edge, creating a perch. Cocks stay in these sections year round, and maintain a bond with their nest.

Nest bowls are made of 3/4" unpainted plywood. Bowls are 5" high x 9.5" at top x 7.5" at bottom. No bottom board allows air flow, keeping nest drier. Flared shape keeps nesting material in place and makes cleaning easy. Extra height allows hen to escape from aggressive cocks when mating up. No more scalping.
